This is one of those topics where we will all agree to disagree.......we've all said our 'bit' and think it should end there!

This could go on forever

yes you do inca, everyone should be able to do what they want to do, as long as it doesnt offend or harm anyone else..

Its a tricky debate there are many angles you look at it..

I appreciate everyones comments

When they do ban it - all you smokers can come and sit in my house and smoke away. All you non smokers can go somewhere else. There won't be room for you

That's really nice of you Joe for thinking of us non-smokers and keeping all that pollution in one area

Looks like we wont have a choice anymore (at least in Scotland):

Todays headline:

BANNED BY 2006

Date set for outlawing cigs

Smoking in public is set to be banned throughout Scotland on Sunday, March 26, 2006.

Am I the only one starting to feel like a naughty little schoolchild. Where I come from its a rural community and there are several pubs which are just filled with old men daily who sit there from opening till closing drinking and smoking (I think we all know a pub like this right?) now rightly or wrongly these pubs depend on these people so I wonder what will happen when they ban smoking, I suppose quite a few pubs like this will loose business and end up shutting as in some its more of a tradition and sometimes the only time these guys get out to socialise.

Somebody made a suggestion to me this morning (she was a
non-smoker) whilst we were discussing the ban, why dont the government make it up to the individual pubs that way the larger chains could ban smoking and/or provide additional air conditioned smoking rooms and the smaller ones have signs ouside pointing out the fact that they are smoking that way we all get a choice as us that smoke can go into a pub or dance where it clearly states smoking allowed but those that dont smoke can see ones that are for smokers and chose to go elsewhere?

Just a thought.

woohoo!

You have a good idea there Laura, i think there should be seperate pubs, but then we will always be a divided communtiy and i dont know, it wouldnt be the same.
I wish cigs were never invented!

I think it's a good idea to ban smoking. I work in a smoking environment and I suffer everytime I come home Not only do I smell of cigarettes, but I feel as though I've smoked every cigarette going
