is there any other sort of number on display?

That is def a Goodmans model number as it shows up in lots of review sites, just don't think you can but it anymore.

did the aerial connector come iwht an adaptor which does fit into the socket. any odd little gadget on the floor round the back?

good news and bad news. when I drove to where I got it I discovered it was Comet and NOT Curry's, very very nice lad (about 12 I think) told me they don't do that model anymore, but showed me on another tv what to look for
RV it says under the socket, so have driven home and looked for it, and can't find one, or anything that looks like one. However.....Leon has connected the DVD to it and there is a cable running from that into the tele that looks like an aerial cable, so could the piece of cable I have really go into the DVD
Comet is on my list of Good Guys To Buy From, they were fantastic and incredibly patient
