Hi laura, there are only a few things that i picked up on, could just be a typo, but DDR2 and SDRAM or 2 different types, its either DDR2 or SDRAM.

Socket AMD3 is another one, there is a socket AM3 which isnt being released until 2008, at the moment we have socket AM2 which i assume you have with the 64bit processor, its deffinatly not your PC thats slow, thats for sure!

1 gb is the size, ddr 2 sd is the type of ram

Tbh your old PC sounds like the Hard drive is gasping its last and if its old then it makes economical sense to consign it to the tip and upgrade.

You could have it repaired but at the prices he is quoting you I would buy another.

Out of interest you might want to download this and check out what you actually have at the moment and whether it is worth saving.

Hi Luz i just done a bare system for you

it all comes to £155.03 + p&p & VAT = £193.27

That is for a bare tower with no cd drives but you can use your old one unless you want new this is also with no windows but you can use the one your using now so you can save on that.

List of parts as follows (you might not know what they are but see if your local shop can match the price)

1 X MSI K8MM3-V SKT 754
1 x AMD semperon 3000+ 64bit with heatsink
1 X 512 Crucial DDR ram
1 X 160G SATA
1 X CASE (No PSU)
1 X 430 PSU

Yoy can use some parts from your old pc like the harddrive so you'll have extra storage as well. Or not fit a nes harddrive and just refit your old one that alone will save you £31.40 just not getting the new harddrive.

The price can go lower if you like it all depends on how much you want to spend
