Hmm I don't know about that - I think Skype is a different matter entirely Kye

If I was you I would start a new thread asking about it so that everyone can see it and the people who use it can tell you the ins and outs of it

Let me guess - MSN Messenger Live (The latest version)?

There is quite some heated discussions about this, and I too have been a victim of it. There are a few documented unofficial fixes around the web for it. However, aside from none of them working for me, they are a little too technical, I think, for the average home user who may not be familiar with editing their windows registry.

Nobody is quite sure of the cause, it seems. However, it's very much an issue. My solution? I went back to Messenger 7.5, and it's been problem free.

Skype would depend on you having other friends on Skype. Another alternative is Trillian. Trillian acts as a front-end, if you like, allowing you to speak to friends, whether they are using MSN, Yahoo, or a couple of others that I can't remember.

There is a free version, which is actually very good. You enter your MSN details, Yahoo details, if you have Yahoo, etc, and all of your contacts from both services appear in one list. All very civilised.

It's worth a go, if only to see if it suits you. I personally love it, as it means I don't have to have several different Messengers loaded.

Messengers it supports: AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC.
