By the way just noticed my player is real player not media player does that matter

real player is a type of media player it should still play videos.
now we know you can watch avi format, online video's.
still trying to work out why you can't view freds.

Nope

It says connecting to media connecting to media, stopped. So then I keep on clicking play but it just does the same thing

if it is connecting up to start with then you should be able to view, the problem is finding out why it stopped bring the media down.
