If you right-click on Network Neighborhood on the Win98 PC and select Properties.

Locate the TCP/IP entry for the network card and click on Properties.

Click on the Gateway tab and check it has an entry 192.168.0.1 - if not add it.
Click on the DNS Configuration tab and check that "Enable" DNS is selected.

Add the DNS IP addresses given above into the section entitled: DNS Server search order. When done, you need to click OK until you are out of the network configuration. It should then ask you to restart the PC.

Once rebooted, can you access the internet ?

does it matter what Host name I call it as it said that I had to give it one?

Doesn't matter - so long as it's unique on your network of two computers.

No. The Gateway is the IP address of the XP machine - 192.168.0.1

I think it might be worthwhile re-using the XP network wizard again:

To run the Network Setup Wizard

On the XP computer, click Start, click All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click Network Setup Wizard.
Follow the wizard's instructions.

After you run the Windows XP Network Setup Wizard on the XP computer, you need to run the Windows XP Network Setup Wizard on the Win98 PC.

Insert the Windows XP Home Edition or Professional CD into the CD-ROM drive.
In the Microsoft Windows CD window, click Install Support Tools.
On the Tools menu, click Install Network Setup Wizard.
Follow the wizard's instructions.
