So sorry to read this Rubster
I've not posted much recently but have been reading (there are soooo many posts to read through that I never get time to comment too!)
I feel your pain & sadness, what with Stone and his dodgy elbows - his arthritis has taken hold too much to do an awful lot about - he is now on metacam daily for the rest of his life, however long that may be but he is doing really well on it for now.
Hugs to you and Khal x

Hey Kay, thankyou. Sorry to hear Storm isnt too good now! The metacam didnt do anything for khal so we have him on previcox to see how he gets on with it. Its gonna be alot of trial & error for the next few weeks I reckon. Hope your boy has more good days than bad xxx

If it's any consolation, my boy had the same diagnosis at 6 years old. He was put on Glucosomine and Chondroitin and also Green Lipped Mussel. He also had a couple of months on metacam until the others kicked in. He'll be 16 in January and has led a great life up to this past couple of years.

Obviously, his ball chasing had to be severely cut back so we adapted both his indoor and outdoor games to accommodate his conditions. Other than that, he was fine.

Are you sure he didn't say Cambridge?

Hope Khal is feeling a little better this morning after being pulled about for his x-rays yesterday

Devastating news but I have known dogs do well after a bad diagnosis. Is the specialist Clayton Brown? I know he is practice now and not based where he used to be. I also know he is great. My frinends wsd had more or less no hip joints and did agility at top level and lived till she was 16. The muscle kept her joints in place and medication kept her as pain free as possible.

Good luck with him and give him a big hug and tell him he is SO lucky to have found you.

Thankyou Rune I've just spoken to vet & tha insurance company & Khal is covered for referral/treatment at specialist, hydro & physiotherapy aswell as joint diet food that would be prescribed by the vet. The vet has told me this http://www.christchurchvets.com/refe...eplacement.php is where where we'd be going for further consult. I've told them we want the referral but have put a hold on the hydro/physio referral til we've seen the specialist.
I am soooo much calmer & upbeat this morning having thought everything through & read all the posts on this thread over & over...i've realised its not the end of his world, its the start of a new adventure for him, we'll get his meds sorted, get exercise sorted & then go from there. Nothing is gonna beat us, we're together for a reason..& we're gonna be that way for a lonnnnnnng time to come!

If you catch me moping guys....slap me xxx

Awwww, that's the spirit, nothing is as bad as it seems initially, where there's a will there's always a way (even if it is an expensive one!!). You keep this up, think positive and it will all end positive I'm sure. Good luck with that specialist, I'm so glad you've decided to meet up with him, even if it's only for a chat, it'll be well worth the visit, and don't forget to write down all questions as they pop into your head and take that with you. It's always a good idea to write down some details that could interest him too, i.e. the kind of exercise he's had, when the lameness starts, blah, blah, blah.

I'll be the first to give you a slap if you start heading on a downer ok !!!xxxx

Hahah thought you'd be first in the slap fairy line!! Ive been writing down odds & sods this morning , waiting for vet to call me bk and tell me how long to expect the wait to be for the referral...not that am impatient or anything I also meant to ask them if they give that joinyt diet food on prescription, its £70 for 12kgs (so the receptionist told me this morning) so one bag should last him a long while!

Will start making an exercise diary for him & note any outcomes from it. Cheers Mrs B xxxx
