Following on from Murfs flea thread

Pepsi has been having Comfortis which keeps her free from fleas but today we have found 2 Ticks.
Everytime we picked up the Tick remover she ran and hid,

I Googled how to remove Ticks and found an article on massaging the Tick in a circular motion and it said the Tick would virtually back out of the animal in about a minute (yeah right!)

So, with Pepsi on his lap, hubby massaged the Tick whilst singing to Peps

Suddenly hubby said there it is There in his fingers was a complete Tick, which was taken outside and squashed with a stone!

Nothing could be easier

That is really worth trying, because the tom o whatsit thing can sometimes leave the head behind if you are not scrupulously careful.

Thing is..........getting up the courage to massage a tick might take some time!!!

Was it about the size of a small pea if so then it is easy but remember that when they are that size they are about to drop of anyway.

The other 'easy' ones are when they are still crawling around on the fur and not yet dug their mandibles (all three of them) into the skin.

The most difficult are when they have just burrowed down and got their mandibles stuck into the skin, at that stage they are very small and I haven't found any tools that can remove them, I can do it if my finger nails are long enough.

The longer they have been 'feeding' the bigger they get, it takes about two to three hours to get to the 'pea' size and as I say they are usually about to drop off then anyway.

Well I suppose this proves that even some of the tiniest creatures on earth enjoy a good massage!

No way would I massage a tick eeeyuk! I was chief tick getter ridder of at the Cat Sanctuary - they all handed them to me to deal with a la the tick remover.

I quite enjoyed removing them. I hate them so much that it gave me great pleasure to murder as many as possible.

I'd be worried about accidently squeezing it and it's stomach contents getting into the dog's bloodstream. (I also prefer the hook cos I'm allergic to ticks and there's no way I'm touching one if I can help it)
