Ruby, 9 year old Patterdale Terrier

Ruby, 9 year old Patterdale Terrier

Her Story: Lived with her twin litter brother , both now 9 years old. Family unable to guarantee exit security and she has 2x got out of the back entrance and rushed at dogs. Much better on gentle introductions!

Salient Points: From stable loving home but not quite accepting of her terrier moments. Needs management on lead and supervision of meetings with dogs; current owners keep her away. Close relationship with live in twin, sleep and play together.

Advert: Ruby is a treasure and on the whole a pleasure. She is a 9 year old wire-haired dark brown Patterdale who has grown up and lives with her litter brother, owners and a teenage/young adult family. On the whole the 2 dogs get on great and they are twinned in their pursuits and interests. They share a bed together at night. They are both walked in the New Forest where they live. Ruby will seize opportunities to explore ‘further a field’ given the slightest opportunity so requires tight exit security within her property and terrier–proof garden. She also needs gentle intros with other dogs and if her energy levels were high she could rush in. She has been spayed recently which does settle a dog; she is microchipped and fully vax’d. Ruby is a skilled terrier accomplished in many areas of her life. With her owners in the New Forest.

Ruby is a typical Patti with lots of love to give; a busy ‘person’ and gentle with all people she meets. She has many years ahead of her and hasn’t shown much signs of slowing yet. She needs a family who are aware of the ‘careful introductions’ issue with most terriers and to possibly temporarily muzzle her until she regains confidence in meeting dogs outside. Ruby loves the car, has good manners and house-rule training. Most terrier people will find her a delight and even more so in a lower dog density area as she enjoys currently.
