Help - Found A Abandoned Kitten

Guys

What can we feed it, it rejected milk with warm water.

We've given it tuna, is this okay?

Who do I call, is it RSPCA?

Hi Ingrid, can you tell approximately how old it is? Warm goats milk if it's really young I have always been told - if it's older then I don't see why Tuna wouldn't be OK. If it's in brine though I'd rinse it a little 'cos there will be alot of salt in there. Do you have any pilchards?

I'd phone the RSPCA first but I think I'd phone the vet too - at least they will advise you without passing you from pillar to post.

Good luck (photo please)

Hi, If you can get the specialised milk from the vets (simicat), pet shop (lactol) or even the cartons of cat milk in the supermarket (i.e. whiskas or similar) it is fair superior as cows milk has an enzyeme in it which many cats cannot digest. I would be tempted to ring your vets or animal concern before RSPCA (just a personal opinion though). Whereabouts are you - if anywhere near to South Cumbria I would be happy to help - have feeding bottles etc. and already have 2 cats that arrived to us as starving ferral kittens. Good luck and if I can help in any way please PM me.

HI guys

Thanks for all your replies.

The RSPCA are on their way should be very soon now, they seem to think it isn't a kitten but a really old cat that has shrunk in size but they said that it sounds like it needs medical care.

It's teeth are broken, ears are rough around the edges, bones protruding - walks off balance and seems disorientated.

They are going to take it with them when they arrive.

At the minute the cat is in Fern's old cage with a big blanket, newspaper and water - they recommended water.

Will let you know how the little cat gets on once the RSVP have arrived.

Thanks guys, appreciate all the advice.

Well here's the verdict......

We're catnappers.....

The cat apparently is just really old, seems to have bad kidneys, was underweight but she believes that's because it is old....

So underweight kitty has been released back onto the street by RSPCA and believe it'll run back to whoever is keeping it, or watching over it so to speak.

We feel quite daft, but the RSPCA officer was very gracious and said that she rather we reported it than to leave it.

She has given us a phone number of a local lady who takes in strays so if it does appear again and looking worse for wear then for us to take it to her.

Alls well that ends well...well I think at least :smt017

Awww poor cat, hope its okay, doesn't sound too well At least your RSPCA is better than ours, they wouldn't even walk a minute round the corner to rescue some kittens and a mother that were living in a large clay pipe on the car park where I used to work, they just couldnt be bothered. We had to borrow a trap from the Cats protection league and get them ourselves and it took ages - we had to keep going back everyday to capture them. The RSPCA is the pits in my opinion
