Enclosed area to walk dog in Wigan NW

Hi we have just adopted an 8 month Beagle and he is full of energy, I have read that you can't let beagles off their lead as they will follow any scents they pick up but I think he needs a run to burn off some energy. I'm looking for any enclosed areas I can take him.
Thanks Tom.

I am afraid that I cannot help you as I am a rather long way from Wigan, but hopefully someone a bit nearer will be able to. In the meantime

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your newly adopted Beagle!

Is Rainford too far for you? The Dog Barn have an enclosed area that you can hire.

My Frodo's best friend is a beagle - he's always off his lead... granted he is rarely within a reasonable distance of his owner though

I know of a lovely area in Orford Park thats fenced off specifically for dogs to have a safe run and a play, but thats probably a bit too far away for regular walkies.

Have you tried letting him have a play on a harness and a long line? I've just bought a new one for camping and they came in 5, 10 and 20m lengths

I'm not to far away from Wigan (Chorley) and mine could do with somewhere safe to stretch their legs too, so I will by keeping an eye on this thread in case anyone knows of anywhere! The only thing I can think of is enclosed tennis courts in parks?

Do you have any local outdoor dog training clubs? Sometimes they rent out their space just for this reason

They also might come in handy to help you teach your new Beagle recall

Enclosed Tennis courts are a good bet, husky are the same in that they are not very good off lead due to their high prey drive. Never knew that there was off lead in or orFord park, may go have a look x
