so i take it you dont treat the water when changing it ?

no offence ment here btw jsut tryign to work things out.lol

and is there gravel in the tank ?

and has the filter have changable filtrr pads

and when the water goes dirty what do you do ?

p.s. go to the pet shop and ask for some ph, nitrite, nitrate and ammonai testing strips, shoudl be able to get the lot for a couple of quid.

p.p.s. also i would say your overfeeding the fish, i would only feed one pinch per day.

no offence taken all advice greatly appreciated

no we dont treat water when its changed
we were given drops by petshop called sera nitrivec but on reading label says to leave fish out for 24hrs and sera aqutan 5ml a day we tried the second one for 2 weeks but the water got filthy

yes gravel in bottom

when water gets dirty we completly change the water and rinse the gravel we tried just changing 2 thirds but hat didnt work

will reduce feeds and go to pet shop

ok my feelings are a few things.

one ur over feeding so alot of wste is prodced in uneaten food.

and so the filter sint cleaning.

two your nto treating the water and so could be killing gthe good bacteria.

thirdly you definately are compeltely ruining the tank setup by doing full water changes and rinsing the gravel.

the gravel needs to be left and 1/3rd water needs to be left.

by doing compelte change and washign gravel ur making the problem worse by removing all the bacteria etc that cleans th water.

so reduce feed to once a day, small pinch per 2 fish.

do a 2/3rd water change tomorrow and leave gravel as is and then leave the tank for a few days and it should clear.

and if when you do another 2/3rd water change ti clouds then let it settle a day or two then it shoudl clear.
