Dogs can live quote happily on meat, all the nutrients they need are in meat, providing they have enough variety. As long as you feed meat, offal and bone it is fine. Veggies aren't needed, mine have them now and again but not religiously.

I tend to feed 3 bone meals (chicken wings) I would feed more but only having little dogs they can't cope with bone every day.
I feed offal twice a week, either liver or kidney. If you didn't want to do that you can buy mince with offal in it.
The rest of their meals consist of minced of different flavours, they also have fish, but you don't have to feed it.

Going by the percentage of 10% offal in the diet, if the chicken carcasses and rabbits dont contain the liver and kidneys (and depending how often the dogs will be eating them) then you will need to think about how to obtain and feed the right amount.

Dogs shouldn't have only muscle meat. As long as they are getting muscle meat/tripe plus some bone and offal (liver, kidney etc), they should be fine. I don't feed veg. Bone doesn't need to be big bones, if you are feeding chicken wings and carcasses then you should be covered. You might like to consider adding some fish

Right, thanks all. Lots to think about.

Fish should be fairly easy to add - sardines or something? Offal won't be a problem. The rabbits would be whole anyway so would contain some but I am more than happy to give them some other stuff.

Borderdawn, can I be a pain and ask for a rundown of what you feed in a week? Thanks

Thanks all, very helpful.

Helen

I feed whole mackerel, sardines or sprats fresh off the fish counter (whatever is on offer, sometimes you can get 1kg of sardines for £2). Some dogs won't eat fresh fish so lots of people feed tinned sardines or pilchards. I also feed cheap white fish fillets out of the freezer section in Tesco/Morrisons. Also found Morrisons is definitely the best supermarket for offal

Thanks. I don't like Morrisons and never go in but might just have to have a nosy. I don't think I've seen offal in Aldi, which is where I normally go but have had liver from Asda in the past.

Dunno about Aldi in the UK but Aldi here in Germany has a really limited selection of meat, no offal whatsoever. I have to order online to get anything but muscle meat.

If you've got a butcher nearby pop in there and see what they do.

I add ground seaweed and rosehips every day to balance out any missing vits and mins. They love it, it mixes in with the meat really easily, and there is never any left in the bowl. I also occasionally feed spirulina if they need an extra boost. Seaweed is fantastic for their coats too.
