Hi,

Volunteers are always welcome

Just one thing... which county of the UK are you located? (Just to give us a clue as to who you'd be able to help since you have no transport)..

Wonderful
Well done for volunteering

As you have small furries, would you perhaps be able to foster for a rescue organisation? Just a thought as I do know many of the small rescue's need temp homes for Gerbils, Hamsters, Rats etc...

The Oldies Club is always looking for people to help with publicising old dogs and cats in rescues, and lots of other things too, including fostering of dogs if you fancy that, or doing home visits (though we do ask that you get some experience homechecking with someone who has done it before, if you haven't)

Getting Involved with the Oldies Club

One thing we do is ask our members to print up posters and leaflets (we send out new posters publicising particular dogs every month or so) and go along and ask vets, pet shops, libraries to display them - this is absolutely vital to our work.

As we specialise in old, hard to home dogs, often ones that have been waiting for too long - if we can get those oldies in front of lots and lots of people, it's amazing how the home offers start to come in!

Could you fill in our joining form? (It's OK, it's free!)

joining form

That way you'll automatically go onto the OC list of people to send out poster updates to, and your info will get sent through to Kelly the fostering coordinator so she can try and arrange for you to get homechecked and work out what sort of fosters are likely to be suitable for your setup (this may take some time, I warn you - we are a bit short of people in Scotland generally, but we could definitely use more help up there!)

I could try to add you to the list manually, but I bet I'd forget to ask you something : if you do the form it asks everything and sends it to the right people automagically.

If you have any inspired ideas for the OC, easiest is post them on our little OC forum (linked from the site)- all the committee will see them there.

If you fancy doing some Oldies fundraising, drop an email to f@oldies.org.uk and have a word with Ange - she's our fundraising coordinator.

(Is your hand bitten off yet )

Sorry - maybe that is a Devon / southern england expression, I thought it was general, but maybe not!

If someone offers something and you accept very enthusiastically, that's 'biting their hand off'. I imagine it with a mental image of offering a bun to a wolf at the zoo and the wolf grabbing the bun and the hand as well
