What is Eli?

A few days ago my husband and I adopted a sweet young boy who we named Eli.
Can you help me determine what his mix is?
I'm almost certain that whatever else is in there, it's mix with dobe...
Maybe, dobe-lab, dobe-shepard, dobe mal???

He has the deep wedge shaped chest, and sometimes stands with his legs at that classic dobe angle. His ears and head profile appear to be dobe, but his head is wider and muzzle shorter. His markings are darker but the same type markings as a Doberman.
He is also very intelligent and loving.

Have you considered Rottweiler/Border Collie cross, I had a farming friend with this particular cross a few years back and he looked very similar to Eli.

The photo of him laying on the bed his head is very Dobermann like. I wouldn't like to hazard a guess what else is in the mix.

I had thought of rotti but wasn't sure if he was bulky enough. Then I googled rotti x dobe and found some very close matches.

I wonder if when people say he's a lab mix they're in fact seeing rotti?

Whatever his antecedents he's a very handsome chap.

Definitely some Doberman and god knows what else, lol.. Lovely boy though x
