As Crufts is drawing near, I know of many dogs that at the moment are out of coat, one of mine included, and I am in a delemma, should I, should'nt I? what would you do?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!
Because
1/I show for the 'social event' as much as anything else
2/Crufts is different to any other show IMO and its only once a year
3/I never expect to win anyway....coat or no coat
4/Its already cost me a b8888y fortune!

I voted yes too! Although I know nothing about showing! Go and have a fun day out (and spread the word about Dogweb whilst you're there too )

I agree on the meeting friends side, and I am taking my male, so will be still going, its just my bitch, since she had her litter in December, she has lost her weight, has nice tuck underneath, and looked real good so I thought yeah she stands a chance then her under coat came out, and I still thought well still not too bad, she was out of coat when she got Best Bitch in Breed last year, but then, all her guard hairs started to fall out and I thought Hmmmm this is different she has never lost this much before and instead of looking like a well boned muscular strong Alaskan Malamute, she looks like a fit Siberian husky I never expect to get a place, last year really threw me, her getting what she did, but I dont want to be laughted at or be told I have benched my dog in the wrong area, siberians are over there

I suppose it depends on your breed etc really. I have a shorthaired breed so not sure how much of a dilemma being out of coat is

But youve got to be in it to win it as they say
and what do you have to lose?

Think even if one of my boys lost their coat to that kind os extent I'd rather they came along for the day than stayed at home.

No way not with a Rough Collie ,unless it was in a puppy class.

Strange isn't it....in my breed I've seen dogs shown pretty much 'naked'!! and I've seen a bitch win a large class at a cc champ show with no coat at all!

I'm sure she won't be the only one without a coat. Depends if you consider her a contender for the rest of the year - in which case I'd keep her at home but if she is usually an also ran then you might as well take her.

When does your breed get tickets?
