bye bye chilly

Chilly our beloved chinchilla was PTS this evening after months of fighting with an unknown problem in his tail. we were given the news a couple of days ago from a biopsy result confirming that it was a mycobacterial infection, most likely some form of tuberculosis. With it being pretty much impossible to treat these bacteria in chinchillas and a risk of spreading infection to the rest of our animals or ourselves and chilly's decreasing healh we had to say goodbye and let him go.

He was a wonderful little fellow and a great companion over the last 6 years. He and everything about him will be dearly missed - from the persistant chewing of skirting boards and wallpaper to the excursions up the chimney
