Do your dogs smell after advocate?

I used advocate flea and worm spot on with Buttons recently and noticed that the following morning he had a weird smell. His body, breath and wee were all affected....

It took me a while to work out what had caused the smell and was originally worried he had eaten something.

Is this anything anyone else has noticed? I am not keen on having this every month...

What alternatives are there for a puppy? The vet recommended this to me.

I treat Fudge for worms and fleas separately so have not come across this before.

Yes, it smells.....Diesel has to have advocate every 4 weeks to keep his mange under control. As soon as he see's the pipelet he's off After I've treated him he seems to go docile for a while.

There is no alternative for him....

Maybe you should speak to your vet and ask if theres anything else on offer x

This stuff peeled the gloss off my skirting board!!!!!!!!

I was mortified and haven't used it since!!!

I've just been recommended csj natural 'Billy no mates' and have to say it looks/sounds really good.

the smell of the product is just the 'carrier'

it may be the smell from Buttons was due to his worm burden being shifted

im sticking with advocate..after seeing damage and death lungworm can do(that and mange in a pack ,not mine tho thankfully)
no natural products will deal with lungworm

The csj product is only for fleas, I use another product for worms...not advocate though. Advocate doesn't even cover all the worms does it? I don't think it covers tape worm is that right? So you STILL need to use another wormer along side it.

I use Droncit alongside Advocate for Zeff. (Our vets give you the droncit tablet to go with the Advocate). I am lucky with Zeff I think, he has no adverse reactions to it. I have heard of a number of dogs who do. (although I do not do Zeff every month)

I use panacur with the others and alternate with Drontal.

I am afraid I do not work ours every month. I know that's the new protocol but I can't see why. When we first had dogs we were told once year...then it went to twice...then it went to quarterly...now monthly....what's going on?????

As for flea treatments...I don't use them. They haven't had them...if they get them, then I will get rid of the fleas then.

Rach if you are not happy, don't use it.
I think we are FAR too reliant on chemical usage with our dogs these days and after hearing Nick Thompson speak...I am even more reluctant to use them.

Seconded, after the huge rise in Canine cancers...and Zeke getting cancer has really made me re-think what goes into my dogs systems, advocate is SO potent.
