Have you considered the horse poo may just be coincidence perhaps the kibble didn't agree with him, go back to the original kibble he had before the squits. In view of the fact it keeps reappearing try adding a little kibble to the fish and rice mixture and see what happens.
Mojo was on 50/50 Orijen/barking heads before he ate
the horse poo & he was fine then. After the h/poo binge
he did a load of huge (but normal) poops that stunk of horse! The squits began the next day. The H/poo may
be a red herring, but whatever started it the problem is
how to get him back to normal. Perhaps the upset has
made him intolerant to the food he was ok with before. Yesterday I added some kibble to his fish & he got the
runs again. I think I'll order some Lilly's puppy food to
try him on, if it works I'll try the kibble again in a couple
of weeks.
I want to get him checked over anyway as he's lost a bit
of weight during this.

I wouldn't be trying another new food while he is squitty tbh.
How much horse poo did he eat? Mine have only ever managed one mouthful before being chased away from it by me, they eventually learnt not to bother with it.

How are you reintroducing the kibble?

If you are doing a straight change over, that could be the problem.

Try slowly reintroducing, ie mainly fish and rice with a very tiny amount of kibble in for a couple of days, If all is well, a little less fish and rice with a little more kibble for a couple of days. Keep on this way until he is fully on the food you want him to have.

He's young so more prone to react to drastic food changes

The vet has checked Mojo over & said its ok for him to
be on the fish & rice for a week or 2 if need be. But I dont
want to drag it out any longer that I have to, he's always
hungry & has started scavenging, I keep finding him pulling apart waste paper bins that we though were safely out of his reach! Poops are normal, this is 3rd day of fish/rice, tomorrow I shall mix in a bit of Orijen & see what happens!

The horse poo may well have contained horse wormer, its quite common in that case for any dog that eats it to have the runs for a while, a puppy would be affected more by it
