Testing, testing!

Some of you may remember that I was having trouble with my keyboard and that I was looking for a new one?

Well, my young Mac expert laddie from the other side of the island has come up with a compatible AppleDesign board. Installed it this morning (after giving it a good blasting with compressed air), so this is its first run! Typing speed has increased by at least 200% and no keys are sticking now!

Also, he replaced the mouse. I hadn't had a problem with it, but he could never get it to work properly. I have to admit that that, too, has been a great improvement - solving a problem I didn't know I had!

Yay!

The problem had always been that usually Macs need Apple components to work properly (keyboards and mice are mostly Mac-specific, in particular).

I had trawled lots of Mac sites (always getting directed back to the same one!) and found that there are no longer boards being made for this operating system (OS 9.1) and that the new ones are all for Mac OS X. Also, they can be very expensive (up to £200!), as they are programmable.

The new board is a lower model than the one I was using, but as I never used the extended functions anyway (too much of a dweeb), it makes little difference operationally - but a hell of a lot physically!

Now, when our new laptop arrives (with OS X and broadband capability) and we get the dreaded BB up here, there will be no stopping me.....
