Yes I have used Jo Hill's method as well.

Somebody told me many years ago when I started competing and knew diddly squat about anything, watch the dog and it will tell you how it was trained.

It is so true.

I spend a lot of my time at events, whether competitive or not, observing dogs and seeing if they are telling me one thing and the owner is telling me something different.

Ive been doing a lot of training with Jo Hill.and she favours teaching dogs to go round a pole clicking and rewarding as they just get round I;ve used this as well and now can get her to use twoo poles about 80yds apart with me in the middle getting her to return to me then sending her on to the next one
So you click as they go round the pole, increase the distance and then go from pole to pole? Thats what I do with ground targets----never thought of making the target more visable!

Thanks you and Jo!

Mine have caught onto this quite quickly, but I do know of a few folk whose dogs didnt cotton on so quickly

Good Luck

Thinking it is a bit like barrel racing with moveable targets, there are a few people doing that now.

Also thinking it would be a good fast energy release for Benj during winter.

I feel all keen and motivated now! Maybe I'll start him tracking a bit as well, you can get stuck in a rut sometimes.

Betsy has a basic sendaway as she starts pre agility today, so I thought it may be useful. We have used toys and treats and if I'm lucky she will do so from about 50-60m. We just used cones. Probably taught it wrong though lol

Have fun---if the trainer wants you to change anything ask why. You are doing OK with her and I'd want very good reasons to change what I was doing.
