Thanks once again guys - seriously, the stories are really helping alleviate my (probably silly) fears! I think the fact that it is such a specialist breed that she's taken on is what started me worrying tbh... So I would be happy to get some info off you Seoniad!

I'm visiting her this weekend so I'll take some stuff down for her. I know she wont take it the wrong way as she isn't too proud to accept help!

I'll suggest this site to her then (although may have to get rid of this thread first! )

And you know what - above all else - I can't WAIT to meet his pup!!!

Sarah I'm sure you'll be a great help to her and very supportive. You'll be able to take both of your dogs walking and chat through any doggy problems together.

Just thought you lot may like a wee update! Finally got to meet little Sikari (sp?) this week after previous meetings had to be cancelled and she's absolutely gorgeous!

She's just turned 12weeks and is a bit of a handful already! The cheeky so-and-so was playing quite rough with Kia but did take a telling off and calmed down a lot after that. She stayed on lead (obviously) for our walk and Kia was offlead so she could get away if pup got too much!

She'll be starting her puppy classes asap so they can get her training underway and I did mention to her about joining here so she can speak to those of you with Sibe's etc. about any training issues she encounters on the way!

So all good so far! But... She mentioned possibly breeding from Sikari in the future because she's heard that "spaying ruins their coat and besides, you can get £6-700 a pup" I soon told her my opinions on that, explaining the costs of health tests, finding the right sire, making sure Sikari has the right temperment, raising the pups and the fact that she'd have to take any pups back if there was problems with them in the future...

Don't think she'd thought it through at all yet and had just seen the pound signs so hope I've given her something to think about there! Wasn't sure about the coat thing though...?

Oh and plus, she's found out she's pregnant again! So come September she's gonna have a toddler, 10month old pup and a newborn! That place is going to be a mad house! But she's dedicated to the training and I think she may just be the kind of person to thrive under the pressure... And there are loads of us around to help out if things do get a bit too mental!

Will get pics when I see her again next week, although the pup never sits still so they may be a bit blurred!!!

Got my first dog last Halloween (he was 9 weeks old). He didn't come with a manual (what puppy does ).

Thank goodness they publish some excellent books. There is a forum (somewhere on this site) that recommended some good books.

Just a note, my baby boy turns 6 months old tomorrow. Oh my.
