Eddie - Wonky older Staffie

Eddie is a 9 year old staffie and is currently on foster in Coventry.

The Eddie Fact File
Dog Status: Very good
Cat status: Unknown
Child status: Good but has been assessed in adult only home. Could be rehomed with children aged 10 years plus
House training: Perfect
Home alone: Fine to be left for short periods but prefers as much company as he can get
Basic training: Knows ‘Sit’ ‘Wait’, ‘Off’ and ‘Paw

Eddie is a real old fashioned gentleman. If he could hold the door open for you and pull out your chair before you sit down he certainly would. He has shown what beautiful manners he has in his foster home, is perfectly house trained and is not a demanding guest. he is also polite and friendly to all dogs that he meets and has been very good with the dogs he is living with in foster care.

Eddie has elbow dysplasia and arthritis which means his mobility is limited. This has gone un treated for some time and the poor lad has just had to soldier on and try to deal with it. His legs have twisted slightly at the front as he has attempted to compensate for the lack of movement and move in a way that reduced his pain. He is now receiving pain medication from the vets and this would need to continue. It has made a huge difference to Eddie and he is a happier and more mobile dog since treatment began. Anti inflammatories and pain relief will be needed for life and will cost around £20 per month.
Eddie loves his walks and getting out to see and sniff things, however, he does not have huge exercise requirements due to elbows meaning he could suit someone who is less active or mobile themselves.
His weight will need to be monitored and he should not be allowed to gain any extra pounds.

Eddie loves people and company and would like to be someone's constant companion if he could. He is fine to be left on his own for short periods but if people are around and there are things going on and he can be part of it he is happiest.
He has been living in an adult only foster home and he came to us from the pound with no history. This means we would not rehome him with young children and really, knowing his personality we think he would prefer the quiet life with just adults or older children.

Eddie is living in foster care with other dogs and has settled in with them very well and enjoys their company. He could be rehomed with existing dogs or as a single dog. He is friendly with dogs he meets out on walks, he largely ignores them after an initial hello sniff.
Eddie has not been assessed with cats but is calm if he sees them in the street.

Eddie loves to play and once he has a toy he does not always want to let go! His foster family are working on this doing lots of trading exercises with him to teach him to swap items and not to worry when people approach him if he has a toy.

We will not be asking our usual £150 rehoming donation for Eddie. The donation will be at his new owner’s discretion.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK.
