Superglue on Cuts

Hi,

Just a quick question. Benson keeps opening a couple of small cuts, one on the bridge of his nose and one on his ear.

A friend of mine who I trust with most things has said that I can simply apply a dab of superglue to the cuts and this will stop them re-opening.

Is this true? Would anybody else start squeezing Loctite on their dog' cuts?

Ta

Yes there is a glue for tissue but it is not the sort you buy at a hardware store, it remains flexable, try asking you vet.

I have come across this for humans, both my son and OH needed cuts glued at one point or other. It is better cause it doesn't leave much of a scar. I don't see why there wouldn't be a similar thing for animals.

The human "glue"is called Dermabond

I certainly wouldn't use ordinary super glue without taking my vet's advice.

Yep there is a type of glue which vets use but as has been said, its not like superglue, I would`nt ever use that myself. I`ve been told in the past, [ by vets ], to use New Skin Liquid Bandage which is for humans but safe for dogs - it stings for a few seconds but is then soothing and protects small cuts very well.

Brush on

Spray on, [ for slightly larger cuts not severe enough to need vet treatment ]

*Personal disclaimer, my vet recommended it to me for my own dogs, but anyone considering using it please check suitability for your dogs, I am not a vet so recommendations / suggestions for products not specifically designed for animals should always be given the go-ahead by a persons own vet

My vet also recommends new skin for small cuts but having used it on myself it does sting for a short while.
