Excellent question...

Georgie is 16wks old so still going through the training stages.

We have mastered the main problem we had with him - nipping - that all stopped weeks ago, thank god. Weve mastered the sitting when asked, we even give paws when asked too We mastered getting Georgie to bark when I ask him to say 'yes'. Weve mastered getting him to come when called.....

Our main problems still to get ironed out are pulling on the lead...Yes 16wks old and could probably pull a cart with his strength, and also he gets over excited when people come round and he will not get off them when hes told to.

Apart from those 2 things, nothing else is a problem

oh dear oh dear - I put my hands up - as these problems are purely my own making and if I spent time on them they would be fixed but we have such fun in other ways - HONEST!!! I have done training with them and they are very good boys honestly!!

1) dog pulling on lead
in fairness (aside from at shows) they don't go on lead a huge amount - because I walk out my back gate and we are on the south downs

but when I really ask them they do walk nicely (honest )

and

4) jumping up on people

doesn't help that some people encourage it does it - and we are currently working on this with a friend who visits and we are getting there.

Can I add one Shona?

I would also add barking - gordon setters are renowned for being noisy - and boy are they (and some) When getting ready for a walk the noise from Max and Angus is UNBELIEVABLE - another thing I am working on but not with huge success yet! We will get there - won't we!?

So how do I score 2 out of 4 (oh doesn't look that good does it!)

I would definetely say Recall is awful with Roxy and she will still occasionaly jump at at people (mainly me!)

We used to have problems with pulling on the lead (which I feel is going to win this poll hands down) but I have sort of conquored that now

i agree with 1,2 and 4, ive never really had to deal with dog on dog aggression, ours have all got along great with each other and other peoples and i can only assume its because there are so many dogs in my girlfriends family that socialising is a walk in the park, literally

instead i would say training not to bite was one of my problems. kai never bit out of aggression she would just get carried away when we were playing so we had to really work with her to realise that she shouldnt bite down whilst playing.

i read an article by a guy called ed frawley who works with police german shepherds in the states. they are taught to bite on command and only on command. he had quite a few tips that really helped us out and as proof i still have all my fingers

Excellent poll,
Neither Meg or Tyler pull on-lead they never have,Fen pulls like a steam train though so he is walked on a Halti at the moment.Fen and Tyler have excellent recall,Fen's is a bit over the top,he is so eager to please he jumps up.Megs recall is a bit iffy but improving,Mine don't have any issues with dog aggression. And all of them jump up occasionally, which we are working on.

Hi rachel cant seem to add to the poll but if azz has a look mabey it will he added

to be honest I think most owners have most of the issues listed at one time or another so dont be ashamed, lol
thanks for your honest answers, no dog is perfect and I am sure you will solve problems in time, funny you say about the barking, my garden goes straight onto a field and one of my friends has large munsterlanders her garden also backs onto the field, when she is taking them out you can hear the barking for miles you would think there are 100's of them but its just the 3 lol, rotts thankfuly are very quiet in comparison, but my GSD could wake the dead when going out with his yoddlin soooo loud so I got him zonked on a tuga ball and he took it with him on walks meaning it muffled the racket to an extent, you dare not open the door without him having somit in his gob though!
so we have all been there, never cured him of it though

I've said recall but to be honest it's not really a huge problem Both have I'd say about 90% recall.. but when there are other dogs there Jake prob drops to nearer the 50% mark. Taking into account that he's still a pup and learning it would prob be unfair to call it a problem but it's the one thing that I'd say could be improved. Other than that I think I'm very lucky to have two well behaved pups. I did expect it to be very much more difficult having two at the same time.

My god Seeing it like that really brings it home!

2, 3 and 4 ! ! But do have two dogs and they are split between them, and not major either.

Both recall is there, but they are young and can suffer 'selective deafness'. Recall is currently being re-inforced through basic training .

Sammie is dog on dog aggressive, but only on very rare occassions, and only when on a lead Still working on that one?!?!?

Angel goes mental when folk come in house, very annoying because even when you tell folk to ignore her when she does it, the 1st thing they do is bend down and get her even more excited (case of training people instead i think
