Hole in my puppy's lower lip

Hi

I have a five-month-old Staffy cross, we're not sure what with but it could be German Shepherd, Lab, or Rhodesian Ridgeback.

I just brushed his teeth and noticed a small puncture wound on his lower lip caused by the corresponding upper canine (it's an adult tooth). It doesn't look inflamed but it is a much lighter pink than the rest of the lip and about 0.5ml deep. Should I be worried? My vet doesn't open until Tuesday because of the bank holiday.

I've had dogs before but never noticed anything like this....

Thanks for your help

Char xx

I would just keep an eye on it, if it were me, it will probably clear up in no time

Thanks, I will! It looks benign enough, just a bit worrying x

You're bound to worry with a young puppy but I honestly think this is something that can wait until the vet opens up again. Let us know how you got on.

I always like to see people who notice the small things with dogs - they are the ones that make great owners!!

I too would just keep an eye on it, and if it gets any worse then a quick trip to the vet may be in order, if only to put your mind at rest.

My thoughts too Bitkin! Thinking also it was brilliant that OP was brushing her puppy's teeth as well - get him used to having his mouth handled and all that.
