I think breadmakers are a bit like epilators, you either love them or use them once and get rid of them.
Hence why they are ALWAYS on offer free on freecycle.

I have to say, I don't often use mine to bake the bread, but often use it to mix up the dough then usually bake it in the oven

I wouldn't be without mine - it gets used two or three times a week. I use the packet mix too, Cathy, and it always comes out huge (well, the white loaf does) but I find the brown loaves are a fair bit smaller. Hope yours was ok in the end

We use ours everyday, Andy also uses it to make chapati dough, nothing better when you make home made soups or stews and have some fresh hot rolls yum

I make breads the old fashioned way, by hand. I think with bread makers it can depend alot on the brand/type you buy. I remember hearing a panasonic something or other was the best one to get..... I'm a mine of info, aren't I?

Let us know how it turns out please?

i made my first loaf yesterday, other than it trying to escape it was lovely.OH polished it off quick enough.
and i did another one today, because of OHs BP probs i didnt use salt, but i think its needs a small amount.
but it came out lovely. was impressed. just needed some jam to go with it
so i give it a 9/10

I havn't used ours for ages. We did however use it to get our kids to eat wholemeal bread. We started with a white loaf and added more wholemeal flour each time until they were eating 100%wholemeal. Now they choose this as loaf of preference.

They are good fun aren't they. I've used some of the packet mixes, and they seem to try and escape if done on normal setting, but stay within bread maker if on the fast bake setting.
