How many babies do these Ducks need!

I took myself of to the lake this morning, just to see what was going on, well, not a lot to tell you the truth, but there was one Duck with two babies and this couple of Ducks had 16

Not a brilliant picture I'm afraid, but you can see all the babies

How sweet

I saw a mum and probably about 8 babies yesterday this morning, but 16 does seem an awful lot! (good job ducks don't breast feed)

Duck mums can often swap babies, or they will sometimes share broods.... a wild duck couldn't hatch 16 eggs, however 2 or 3 females will share the looking after of a large clutch of eggs.... parenting at its best
