My cats astonish my Irish landlord as he had no idea they can be trained. The big boy was strolling up the lane as we were talking; I called him and he ran to me. Better recall than collie!
I live Ireland too (North)

Our cats are good examples of Dreamies tv cats who would do anything for a Dreamie. That is how I have trained them, using treats

I've never owned a cat that wanted to wander outside the perimeter walls or fences of my property. One got shut outside the front door by accident one day when standing with me while I talked to a delivery man and by the time we realised and rushed to the door to let her in she had raced right round the block over the wall into the back garden and in through the catflap!

I think you got anything wrong here

don't you know how it works at wildlife?
if the offer of food less for any reason, they wont get huge litters
the nature is working right!

that has not to mean, that every wildlife will be starving
but they will get smaller litters, that the offer of food will be still enough for to feed less animals

so if people thinks, they had to put their fingers in the work of the nature
they should not only spend money for to feed those "sweet critters"
they also should spend money for to neuter/spay them, that the population wont get too much

also diseases disseminating far easier when the population is too high

just can see that at my neighbour cats
every second new kitten already has the cat flu

only last weekend one of my neighbour came along with a kitten on her arm
told me, that they just cleaned their eyes, as they were totally crusted of pus!
I told her, that this is cat flu and you can vaccinate them against that

she and her daughter (one of the other neighbours of those allegedly "cat lovers") just are deaf on these ear, as it costs too much, as same as with let them to neuter/spay

well their saying:
too expensive and anyway,
cats will get insane if you do so ~ REALLY!!! their words!
for to let vaccinate them:
too expensive and anyway, they would get too much, if not the one or the other would die of any illness

i.e. that's the natural selection

THAT IS CRUEL!
in my eyes

oh well I know, not that exactly anymore, just saw it on TV
never had any at home thankfully

anyway, it was more a joke
as every cat owner who it so fanatic about, will tell you that cats are ONLY usefull, because they eat ALL the mice

but then I'm wondering why my neighbour is always crying, that their uncontrolled mass of cats eat her her hairs off her head

certainly there are still mice around, but seldom see one of the cats hunting, nor walking with a dead mouse in her mouth around

but you can see when its time for tin food, as then are all there, gathering them around the house of my neighbours
so I'm wondering, why are they still so hungry?

Some cats hunt and some cats don't. Some cats will eat what they kill some won't it has been said they are the only creatures other than man that kill for 'sport'.

heard enough of cats bringing home dead mice of even birds
without to eat them, but waiting for their kibbles or tin food then

and when they are "feral cats", believe me, before they would starve, they will begin to hunt for mice or whatever, if they ever had learnt that of their mom

those are not really feral cats, those got bred by humans
poor creatures in my eyes
never really free, nor having a home, which some of them maybe never would want, but just as they never got used to it

like you told, the ones you picked up
how many of them would like the same?
are just too afraid?

but back to the topic

I mean why not for both, cat & dog owners the same rights & duties?

I have to care for, that my dog wont get on others properties, poos around in there or destroys anything there

cat owners has not to care for, why?

dog owner: has a garden, so they has to put a secure fence around, that the dog cant get out
otherwise it would just too natural for every dog to stray around like cats

cat owners: if you wont like cars in your garden, it's said, than care YOU for, that they cant get in?

or may I send them the bill for then, if I did so?

let poo your dog in other ones garden ->
but you should accept it of their cats? why?

the cats of my neighbours used to jump at the window cill of my OHs house, as there it was nice and warm and dry, especially when the sun came out after a rainy day

at all it was refaced, newly painted...
well, they didn't clean their paws before...
just imagine how it was looking soon afterwards?

let your dog pollute others house like that
I would not like to know how my neighbours would react on

...as it's something totally different!!!

the difference is:

dog owners has to say "I have to do..."
(most) cat owners say "YOU! have to do..."

and in my eys, that's not right! simply NOT FAIR!

by the way, here we have a dog tax to pay
cat tax? no way!
any reason for?

My cats and many like mine don't go outside their own property, you can't generalise that every at owner is the same

Send them the bill for what?

i don't know that anyone actually accepts it. I used to have a neighbour with a collie and it would jump three high fences to come into my garden to toilet. I kept returning the dog but it only stopped when they moved!

If you lived at the sea as I do, your windows and ledges would be covered in salt half the year

We have a dog licence where we live or tax as you call it. I would happily pay for either dog or cat.
My dogs are licensed, neutered/spayed, microchipped and insured
My cats are microchipped, neutered/spayed and insured
Both cats and dogs are kept on their own property

There are many many people who own cats (&dogs) who act the same reasonable way so please don't generalise

I think it is you who has got it wrong. Don't feed the animals so they starve to death or they will go on merrily breeding getting smaller litters. Have you any idea how many kittens the average cat can have in its lifetime small or not litters. A mother cat can come into season "before her kittens are weaned" If you have 20 breeding cats in a feral colony and you trap them all, neuter/spay, there will be no further breeding, no small litters. The colony will eventually die out.

As for your neighbours, that is pure apathy, people like that give other pet owners a bad name. What ages are the mother cats, how many litters have they had already? It happens the world over not just where you live. It is not the cats at fault, it is the people at fault.

Malpeki' words fail' they really do and I am not reading your rambling posts any more full of*****You seem too so unhappy that one can feel only compassion and hope things improve for you soon. And maybe you could support the fine work so many do..

Those of us who care about cats and dogs will continue to nourish and foster and act with human compassion and kindness and practicality. Helping and allowing existing cats dumped and abused by humans to live out their natural lives free from hunger and ensuring that no more ferals are born from them.

Because we are human and we care and we know how appalling hunger is.

That is our choice, made with a great deal of knowledge and intelligence . This is OUR problem after all, created by people.. so we do not blame the cats or punish them.
