Swiss/French border holiday

I'm starting to get really excited about our holiday in August - it'll be my first time to Geneva and the surrounding french/swiss borders. We booked our flights yesterday :smt026

We are going to the region of Sixt Fer à Cheval near Chamonix to do some fantastic alps hiking, and am currently stocking up for hiking gear at the minute which is always fun - reminds me of when Tuti/Ooee went to Nepal

Has anyone done any hiking in the swiss or french alps, particularly in summer? Any recommendations on what you found incredibly useful out there?

May summer come quickly
