I'd put myself somewhere in between the two camps.
We had dogs growing up, but my parents were very much just 'people who owned dogs'
I've always liked dogs but had no real desire to own one, until Maggie found us.
I work in a shop that sells dog food/toys and am shocked by the amount of people who feed their dogs utter rubbish. one bloke was complaining that the huge bags of dried dog food we sell only contained 12.kg as opposed to some we'd had previously that were 15kg for the same price...the princely sum of £5.99!!
Another customer buying the same product just shoves the bag in the garden and lets her 'outside dogs' free feed from it.
Two people I know who have recently forked out quite a bit of money for pedigree pups both feed supermarkets own brand...they look blankly at me when I mention what I feed my two, so if these are average dog owners then I hope I'm on the way to becoming a 'dog person'
