Brokeback Mountain

At first, I didn't relish the idea of a "gay cowboy" film. Whilst I am by no means a homophobe, it's not my cup of tea, either (just to get that straight). "Brokeback Mountain" isn't really a gay cowboy film - it might best be considered as a love story, albeit "unconventional Hollywood".

The start is, perhaps, fairly explicit, but the general photography is superb, with sweeping shots of Wyoming. The performances by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal are solid and sensitive and they have good support.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I might.

I don't mind sad endings unless it spoils the context of the film, must admit though i have lost a lot of faith in films there just seems to be a lot of rubbish around - or im just getting old!
