Foxes digging up bulbs

Does anyone know a quick and easy way to stop foxes digging up my newly planted bulbs. I spent ages planting several planters with flowering plants and bulbs and they have dug up every bulb but haven't touched the flowers!
Strangely enough this has only been happening since the death of my elderly cat a fortnight ago, they never bothered with the garden before.

Are you sure it`s not your dog?
Only I once planted a row of onion sets then stood in the kitchen washing my hands and admiring my handiwork to see my GSD carefully going along the row digging up each one and sniffing carefully to see what I`d buried there.

Normally its squirrels looking for food they've hidden in peoples gardens, but foxes do dig too in times where food is scarce and they're after earthworms.

I believe badgers also dig up bulbs.

Yes, it is a family of foxes. I seen them last week, thought the little ones were so cute, until they started digging in the planters
They don't seem to like gladioli, as they are the only ones they haven't touched.
They come about 1-2am, so I can't even let Charlie out to scare them off, as he would bark the place down.
My neighbour told me he puts lemon or vinegar around his bulbs and the foxes don't seem to like it, so I tried it last night and so far so good

They do say to pee around your fence line and that should keep foxes at bay ... but not sure how true it is!
