SBT Breed in Canada needs your help!!!!

The following is a letter recieved regarding the proposed BSL in Canada- please sign and stop our breed from disappearing- and please CROSSPOST where you can

Hello everyone.
As you may know the situation in Ontario is critical.
The provincial government is introducing legislation
to ban the pitbull in the Province. They are intending
to use the Winnipeg criteria which banned the pitbull
about ten years ago- this decreed there were three
variants of pitbull, the Amercan pitbull terrier, the
American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire
Bull Terrier. Unfortunately this was not adequately
challenged as it is rubbish. The SBT has been
developed as a pet and family companion, along totally
separate lines over 70-80 years in Britain with no
connection with the American dogs whatsoever. Its love
of children is well known. We all know this.
We need all of you to protest (in English or French)
to the Attorney General of Ontario, Micheal Bryant,
and suggest you make the following points-

1 The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is NOT a pitbull. NB
the SBT is not proscribed by the British DDA so this
is a precedent vis-a-vis the Winnipeg position.
2 The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is the finest of
family pets and its love of childen especially is
legendary.
3 That all Staffordshire Bull Terriers registered with
the Canadian and American Kennel Clubs should be
exempt from any Breed Specific Legislation should it
be introduced.
(Please note that reports in Dog World saying that
registered SBTs would be exempt are untrue and Bryant
has branded registered dogs as 'killers')

While we all know that BSL does not work, we must be
realistic and exemption for CKC and AKC registered is
perhaps the most feasible objective.

We suggest you direct your protests to
Bryant, michael.bryant@jus.gov.on.ca and/or
mbryant.mpp@liberal.ola.ca

with copies to
the prime minister, dmcguinty.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org
and/or daltonmcguinty@premier.gov.on.ca
the Canadian Kennel Club, information@ckc.ca

We want to see their mail boxes to be overflowing on
Monday morning and as well as your own voice heard,
can you crosspost this to as many others as possible
to give them the chance to add their weight to the
fight.

Just signed the petition. Why don't they exmaine the breed before making such decisions? They should look at the breed as a whole.

do we ban cars because people get killed by careless driving on the roads or would you sensibly ban the driver ?

the problem we have is that if more and more countries ban the breed then when something in the UK occurs and a ban is called for it will be much harder to fight against if the majority of other countries have already banned the breed
