False alarm....

I got a phone call this morning from Sam at Dog's Trust. The puppy that was supposed to be coming to us today is too traumatised to go into a home, especially with another dog.

They picked her up yesterday and kept her at the veterinary suite overnight. Apparently, they can't get a lead on her because she snaps at anyone who comes near her. She's so terrified of everything. It sounds like she's been badly abused.

So, they're going to keep her there to assess her and do some work with her. I think she'll probably be fostered out to someone who doesn't already have a dog so she can have some quiet time on her own.

A 7 month old puppy that's so traumatised they can't even put a lead on her

oh that's so sad.

I do hope that the pup doesn't end up back with the owner - wonder if the Dogs Trust has the power to refuse to hand her back?

Hali - she isn't signed over to the Dog's Trust. All they can do, if they feel it's appropriate, is encourage the owner to sign her over. Otherwise, she'll go back to her owner when the owner leaves the refuge.

TBH it may not be the woman's fault. It's her partner who is the violent one.

That's a fair point about it being the partner who's the violent one.

I do hope it works out for the best for the pup though.

Guess what?? She's coming to us tomorrow afternoon now lol. The fear aggression she was showing is much less - it seems it was such a shock for her to have been taken away from her owner. I'll blog tomorrow to tell you all about it

I'll blog tomorrow to tell you all about it - I'll look forward to reading that, I hope you can provide a nice 'violence-free' home for the little girl so she get's some confidence and learns that not all humans are bad.
