When I used to ride regularly there were always things that occurred which could spook a horse, eg plastic bags (
the scariest things known to equines), bad drivers, hot air balloons, remote controlled airplanes, kites the list is endless.
Everyone has a right to enjoy the great outdoors in the way they want to.
agree RE the horse savvy comment, a lot of people in this day and age aren't. I current have the rides of two horses, one a nicely bred cob, who should have shown but ended up in novice hands and is now too old and ruthlessly strong and the other an ex racehorse, if i end up somewhere busy or in a tricky situation on the cob i can't tell you how much i wish i was on the ex racer, he's seen aintree, the cheltenham festival and as such it takes a LOT to bother him!
and I won't get started on roads!
