Jealousy ??

my neighbour has an adorable little yorkie.shes about 4 years old. and about 8 months ago she got another yorkie puppy. both lovely dogs., and over the past couple of months tilly the older dog has been getting snappy, shes snapped at the grandkids. now these are not toddlers either. and today the groomer who tilly has known for years snapped at her. now my neighbour treats both dogs the same. both dogs get treats ect. strokes, its getting to the point where shes thinking of re-homing 1 of them. bit drastic. so i said id ask if anyone has any advice. they are both sweet little dogs. so any ideas??

If its behaviour that is out of the blue and not in character i would get the vet to look them over and do a full blood panel as illness is a major factor in aggression or temperament change.

I would strongly suggest that the reason for this change in behaviour is related to approaching sexual maturity of the youngster.

When bitches come into season they undergo hormonal changes which not only change them but affect other bitches in the household (happens with all female animals)

This is why having two entire bitches in a house can be a recipe for disaster.

A bit like if you lived in your house with your mother or mother in law or another wife.............

I think your answer may lie there...................

She really needs to get someone in to observe as this could be due to a number of things. I`ve had a GSD bitch `mother` a new puppy for instance.
