Our breed was historically bred to be a working carriage / road dog - protecting the carriage and gentry it carried - as well as practical they looked highly sophisticated so were very popular.
A lot of people think of Dalmatians as being daft - but they are highly inteligent and anything but daft !!! and when bored tend to do what they like - like any working dog/ breed give them a purpose - especially one that comes naturally and they enjoy and they tend to thrive
Yes i will let you know how we go on.
Her cousin Disco has been Rd Dog Champion for three consecutive years now - they ride out on a Brown and White Knabstrupper - spotted which looks fantastic. Quite a few riders have spotted horses - infact there was one next to us just out of shot of the pics

There's some great pics/vids on this thread

I don't work my dogs, but I do encourage them to search out rabbits and game in our field. Shaan unfortunatly can't keep up the pace, but the girls can, especially Luca.

Now we're getting more pheasants and partridges in the field, it should prove interesting

Great photos. I love the names of your dogs lol.

Wolfie, be aware that birds will start to nest soon. April onwards.

Is that a no no then? Unfortunatly, two of mine are pretty quick and if any of them are within reaching distance of Shaans jaws, he'll nail them.

Well, there are going to be eggs on the ground and I wouldn't want any of my dogs to eat them, particularly if they are grey partridges, not to mention the parents are going to be incubating and not wanting to move.

I guess it's down to your own feelings really.

It is also worth pointing out that in 'encouraging' your dogs to hunt (effectively out of control and indiscrimately) you face a fine and having the dogs (and your vehicle) confiscated
It only takes one person to report you, and you can kiss your dogs goodbye
