Insuring old animals

What are peoples' experiences of insurance when animals become old and claims are more likely ?
Do insurers put up the cost or refuse to continue ?

Sounds like private medical insurance. When you're young and fit they're keen to have you. As you get older and become more of a liability they're less enthusiastic. In the end they price you out of the market.

I had a lifetime insurance policy with PetPotect until they raised the premium from £24 to £63 per month! They classed my dog as high risk because he'd had a few claims in the previous year and was also about to reach his 8th birthday.
