Sandy, DOB 2012, Male, Skye Terrier
Sandy - Skye terrier x DOB 2012 Broxbourne Kenns
Sandy Needs:- Sandy needs an experience family who have terrier experience to be able to support Sandy, as he can get in a tizz meeting other dogs outside: Sandy needs methodical support to desensitize him. Sandy has excellent people skills and needs a family who will enjoy his bravo and character. Secure garden and exit management ref a drill around the front door and side gates to ensure Sandy doesn't inadvertently get out of the house. Sandy must be managed on a short lead around streets with awareness he has a tendency to divert, as many Terriers do, though he does have some control and hasn't done any damage to walkers: Its just hype. Sandy will need regular grooming and he tolerates hand stripping very well.
NB Our Rescue asks owners to maintain dogs on lead in public spaces and manage encounters, as dog law changes places dog's lives at greater risk.
Known background: Sandy was found stray with his partner Beryl a Shar Pei x JRT and unclaimed. Both are inept outside and Sandy in particular gets over excited seeing another dog. We have decided to split the pair as both need individual support to adjust. Sandy is neutered, chipped and fully vaccinated. Sandy is sharing a kennel with Beryl in Broxbourne Herts
About Sandy: Sandy is a tremendously loveable rouge. Bursting with terrier charm and will be the life and soul of any family who has the honour to adopt him. Outside on his walks he gets over excited passing dogs and he need a tight harness and firm drill to keep him moving and focused on his walk or seated and reassured as the other dog passes. Sandy travels well, crated or with lead restraint in the car.
Sandy is a sand coloured Skye terrier, bigger than a Westie and need terrier experience family. What has kept him back from finding his home? We were trying to keep him with Beryl his partner...but they are an odd couple and not many families will step forwards for a terrier and bull breed pair. Also Sandy can divert on to Beryl when over excited; hot air on most occasions, but we now feel both need to find loving families to support them individually to find their way. A diamond dog, brilliant given the support outside he so needs.
