already got the cage sat there doing nothing......

saw some rats in the pet shop - i sooo want one!!

Go on get one, you know you want to, I had a rat YEARS ago, he was my pride and joy, would love to get another one, one day. He loved sitting on my shoulder and although he did have a cage he was never in it very much, even slept on the end of my bed

i dont think my cage would be big enough for 2 - definately one

but dont they need company??

Mine lived quite happily on his own but yes they do say they are "pack" animals i guess it depends on how much time you have to spend with them

Please don't keep rats separate - they really do thrive on company, i have even known them to pine to death if they are removed from their family and friends.

I would also strongly advise not getting them from a petshop - apart from funding horrific rodent farming practices, you also don't know what you're buying. They could well come pregnant (many many do) or at the very least be riddled with health problems. Far better to go to a good breeder or rescue.
