To add to my earlier post...
Even though I allowed Teagan on the floor where I live (not a lot of dogs), I would never have taken her to any classes without dogs being vaxed.

Saying that....my other dog, Kingsley, who now lives with my Mum hasn't been vaccinated in around 4 years.

He is nearly 12, and I think his tiny body has had enough chemicals in it (not all vets stick to the 3 year vaccine booster that manafactureres state).
The kennels let him in, as I have his vaccine card for all his previous vaccines, and they understood the way I felt.

All of mine went out in my arms until they had the 2nd jab + 1 week.
They was allowed to mix with family dogs, who had their vacs and was upto date, partly to introduce etc and it is a safe area to mix with the family dogs.
My vets run puppy classes for socialising etc but they can't be listed untill both jabs are given.
When tob got heavy mark carried him, i wouldn't list them till i knew they was covered, for my own peace of mind, that if there was anything around they have some cover against it.

yes fimberly i will breathe

think i needed to!!!!

i stand by what i said earlier.... and will never agree with jess' ideas of not vacinating..... - - - my reasons for this are pretty obvious - unless you vaccinate a dog you wont know if it has a reaction of not - there are always ways round it - these are the execptions - but to not bother vaccinating a dog on purpose thats just irrisponsible and bad owners imo

I think if a person has been an educated decision not to vaccinate, I can understad why. Not doing it out of laziness/ financial problems is not a good excuse.
After seeing what Riley went through (jabs in spine, spinal fluid removed for testing, he couldnt walk properly for weeks afterwards and sometimes his back legs are still bad- so he does no jumping at all).
I just did a google search about vaccine damage and read the book by Catherine Diodati and it is very scary.
I would consider getting the non combined vaccine if I get another puppy as it seems alot less risky. Guess it is like the MMR jab in kids.

Nearly finished the bottle of wine, so hope this is not too rambly (sp??) :P

I think I remember a vet once telling me that in order to have a "healthy dog neighbourhood" not all dogs need to be vaccinated, just a certain percentage of the dog population.

thats like saying - well that kid can have a chocolate bar - that one cant - why - because you dont deserve it

whats the difference in giving a dog a vaccine???!!!!

why cant people just vaccinate their flipping dogs?!! dosent matter if you want an alternate vaccine - at least thats being responsible!!!!

my girl's booster is due in jan - shes having it - if she has a reaction - i'll deal with it - because im a responsible owner i vaccinate my dogs

if people cant afford the vaccines - they shouldnt have a dog - if they cant afford vet treatment they shouldnt have a dog!!!!

grrrrrrrrrrr

2 years ago when i had my first litter from 6 weeks old they were wrapped up warm taken on the school run with me (they loved the pups at the school) and a coupel that i had for a bit longer (due to new owners holidays) were taken not only to the school but to traning classes and markets all as babes in arms and my boy who i picked up at 7 weeks old within 2 days of coming home was taken to the school markets and traning i personally feel its better to get them out early get them used to people and traffic and everyday noise

I am pretty sure I am behind you on this one (possibly exceptons made for peoples circumtances changing/ homeless people, etc)

I was talking about educated decisions not to vaccinate....if you have a dog that has died in the past from vaccine damage, you would be wary of giving it to another dog (Riley only because paralised, but if anything worse happened, I dont know what I would do) I would be the same with a child, and I know of people that have made the decision not to vaccinate their children for that reason.....I have my own opinion on it, but I cannot judge them if they have made that decision
