LOL.

I do not advocate the use of ecollars. I have used one on my own dog, and I do not think that anyone should have an opinion on things they don't know the full story about. As they say a little learning is a dangerous thing, and I think that you proved that with your comment on titre testing.

It has been a year since I have been on here, and I could have come on under a different name. I have nothing to hide from anyone, and people that know me and have been to my classes will know that I now advocate postive training methods even for the severest of cases.
I think it is a natural thing to develop, and better yourself which I feel I am trying my best to do.
It does not matter to me what you think of vaccinations, but I am happy to debate the matter as I have alot of knowledge on the subject!

p.s. I am not here to mislead anyone either. My statements are truthful from my life experience, I have a million and one examples of how vets (most vets) are out to make money from owners and their dogs... how much time do you have?!

Vaccinations are not without harm, and as I mentioned earlier i believe this is a personal thing, we have to do our best to make the decisions for our pets.

Again I am a little confused – why would you NOT put a dog/pup with unvaccinated dogs/pups if your own is ‘protected’? Surely the ones at risk are the unvaccinated dogs/pups?
Hi Jess , yes of course as we all know vaccinations are a new phenomenon and before their inception populations died at an early age without intervention so thank heavens for vaccination.

No, vaccinations are not without harm and I think in the past too many older dogs may have been over vaccinated, but I think vaccinating puppies is very important.

Remember too Parvovirus is a very new disease, I can remember the first cases and the fear this brought to dog owners in the days before a suitable vaccine was developed.

Like the majority who have posted in this thread I would not take my puppy out and about on the ground until a week after the second injection. Puppies have a low immunity and are vulnerable to infections and I would not want my puppy to pick up an infection while the vaccination was taking effect.

Millie my new puppy went just about everywhere with me in the car and in my arms before she was vaccinated , to none food shops/hairdresser/garage/builders yard/the noisier the better and to work in a house with 28 teenage girls.

I would prefer not to take a puppy to classes where non vaccination was encouraged. Although my own puppy would be vaccinated and safe, I am aware of the tiny puppies who have not yet vaccinated and as a responsible dog owner I wish to protect those puppies if I can .

Logic tells me the more non vaccinated puppies mix together the more viruses are spread around and the larger the overall 'pool of infection' in the environment, this means the tiny puppies have a greater chance of becoming infected.

Just been reading this post with great interest. Firstly, having worked in the veterinary world for over 21yrs I can agree with the statement that Jess says were titring doesn't tell you about whether the animal is immuned it only gives a reading of what level the vaccine is expected at, and that only by giving the disease to the animal will one be able to tell how efficiently the vaccine has been. However having said that, if giving rabies vacc for instance, the MIN of Agr will tell you that if the titre reading is at the required/over level then they can more or less say that you animal stands a good chance of recovery say, if it contracted rabies or whatever it is vaccinated against, and surely this is the object of vaccinating puppies and getting boosters done. I do it because I think it is a responsible thing to do for both my dogs and others in the community but.... as for training classes not asking for puppies to be vaccinated before they attend I find this abit disturbing as one thing no-one has touched on is.....your unvaccinated puppy may go out in your own back garden where you think it's safe...but....foxes also contract parvo, distemper and everything else that the dog family contract. So if the puppy sniffs where a fox has been ( foxy... suffering from one of these diseases) then comes to training class, how do you think other puppy owners would feel if their beloved went down with it, when they have been vigulant. Or have I missed the point here!!!! As for ecollars I disagree with the use, if a PUPPY needs training with one of these GOD HELP puppies, I have owned dogs since the age of 10 (my own dogs) and I am now 54 I wouldn't expect anyone to suggest to me to use a ecollar either. Sorry.

sorry- but i totall disagree with not vaccinating

you cant use kennels, generally go to puppy classes etc

if i went to a puppy class and one dog hdnt been vaccinated i would never go there again and in all honesty i would slate the place

i wouldnt listen to a word someone said who didnt vaccinate their dogs - whether good advice or not

back on topic - my dogs were vaccinated, before they went on the ground - and yes they were carried round everywhere i could - taken in the car etc - and only mixed with my 2 dogs which ARE vaccinated

Totally agree with Suze and Ramble,I think all pups should be vaccinated, and I would never take any of my dogs to a class were their were unvaccinated pups, I am sure when we took one of my two to their first classes we had to bring a vac. card to show they had been done.

I would not be happy if I went to a class and there was an unvaccinated pup/dog there. Both of mine were well socialised, but in my arms, never on the ground until a week after the second vaccination.

I am not even going to comment on ecollars

i'm not with you on this one ....................i wouldn't put my puppy at risk in such a way just because she needs socialisation first
