I didn't want a rescue that may have behavioural problems because my dog has to come to work with me in a school, so it is essential it is well socialised and trained. (I have had a rescue dog and would consider a rescue under certain circumstances say when I retire ) .

I wrote an article on the subject of responsible breeding

Its good that you did, but many people dont, this women, an example of many continues breeding and selling pups.

Of course its adding to the rescue problem! if they couldnt go to breeders and ther genuinly wanted a dog they would go to rescue, or then they dont want a dog enough!!
You're missing my point, there wont be any dogs left for breeding if everyone stopped and all dogs were found homes. The domestic dog in the UK would become extinct, is that what you want?

I admit I have no idea where her brothers and sisters went, I would have had all 9 of them if I could, and I do agree that her breeder was irresponsible..but that didn't prevent Flower and her siblings being born!

I believe reputable breeders do an excellent job, having had 3 westies in the past from reputable breeders, I think suggesting nobody breeds purebreds anymore is rather silly??

I do hate the thought of all the rescue dogs in the centres, and we are hoping to rescue a greyhound as soon as Flower is a little more trained and we have our second garden all fenced securely, but many of the dogsey members and my friends and family own purebreds...it's a personal preference I think!!

I love all sorts of purebreds, I unfortunately could not afford one and Flower was exactly what I was looking for!!
Again as i have said before, you can get pedigrees from rescues and again as i have said before, I am not saying ban all breeding, but it has to be responsible and regulated and these poor dogs that are put down everyday have to be thought of much more, than just silly humans who want their perfect looking dog!

No and if you read what i have said, it is not to stop all breeding, but that it is responsible and that homeless dogs take priority!

My rescues are to be PAT dogs and are the best dogs in the world!
Did I say that?
I actually said I didn't want a rescue that may have behavioural problems ...

I am aware some rescue dogs do and some don't have problem. As I said I have had a rescue dog ,one that spent the first weeks under a chair growling at everyone including my son who was 6 at the time and with a lot of patience and hard work I turned her around so I don't think I need a lecture on 'your dog is what you make it'.
At this time I prefer to have a puppy of my chosen breed, I may have another rescue in the future.

Then stop the puppy farmers, money breeders from breeding and allow the reputable ones continue. Then there really would not be a problem. However, you are making the assumption that everyone would be willing to take on a rescue. They wont, they may have the wrong circumstance to take on a rescue and would be better off with a pup of a known breed with a reasonable degree of predictable traits.

i dont think there is anything wrong with Reputable breeders who want to make ther lines better and who do all health testing etc.

it is the people who just let there dogs have puppies and sell them on.

mostly i blame the people who buy these dogs then relaise what hard work it is then have to give them up to rescues.

i feel sorry for genuine people who once had a dog they loved but fall on hard times and have to give them to rescues.

I myself wouldnt go to a rescue, i am a first time owner and i want to start from a puppy age and grow up with my dog, if a dog i picked at a rescue had problems i would have no idea how to deal with them.

maybe when im more experienced i would consider a rescue dog.

i also would love to start showing, and i know i would have to go to a Reputable breeder for that.

everyone has different opinions and if you dont agree with them it doesnt make them wrong.
