Why some people don't like rats I'll never know!

Izzy - I love that photo of your double-decker rats! They do look cute (I am shielding the screen from Bella the ratcatcher minpin!)

*and Jantet I didn't like the rat that was swimming in our pool a week or so ago! But then rats round here are mostly sewer rats (they are digging up the drains all around) and cats round here don't seem to be interested in catching them!

Well, who can blame him? If I'd been living down a sewer I'm sure I'd quite fancy a swim in your pool!

well true!

But when it comes to pet rats.. I don't see how people (who love hamsters and gerbils etc.) can't like rats.. They're so intelligent, sweet and affectionate. And their tail isn't hairless like a lot of people think

Your rats are lovely! I think you have the same cage as me
I really want to build then a new one, much bigger one as I can't take them out as much as I used to (rat catcher Ella just waiting for her meal on legs to run around...)

Next time I get rats, I shall get a new cage with a smaller door. I used to have it open most of the time (the dogs were all rat-friendly, even the terrier) and Bogie the spaniel used to somehow squeeze himself through the open door and get into the cage to eat the food. Even when the rat was in it.

Well I have to say it's better than finding a SNAKE swimming in your pool!

I was thinking that. How many rats do you have in there? I only have two in that cage. (I have another cage as well) Do you have a room in which you can keep just rats in- no other animals? I also have 2 cats (for some reason I have collected a food chain in my house lol). They are kept far away from my girls...

I've only got 2 but since they've grown the cage looks quite a bit smaller than I'd like.. Thought of adding another one and put it on the top or there are these shelves from ikea (called gorm) where I've got that idea of putting wire mesh around it and have them in there.. Just need some time for that.. I haven't got a second room, only the bedroom but the dog goes in there too, that'll have to be in a few years when I've got money lol
