Starting Flyball tomorrow!

I have signed up for a six week flyball class with Tilly and we start tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it. Tilly had a go at Paws In The Park and was amazing. Even the guy running it said she was a natural and gave her a few extra goes as he said he just loved it when he got a dog like her trying it! I think she was 2nd fastest of the day, not bad for a first timer. I worried she may be a bit old to start it (nearly 8 ) but he said they still have a 14 year old dog on their team so give it a go. I recently discovered a training centre half hour away are doing a course so we'll give it a go. She even got taken to P@H yesterday to get some new tennis balls. Wish us luck!!

my lurcher loves it and will be competing soon, she has been going for a couple of years now but we try not to pressure the dogs, the only downside is the waiting around before your go (same as agility) mind you at least those around are doggy people so the subject of conversation is very dog orientated.
My lurcher enjoys the light system and gets really pumped up when waiting for the green light, she takes the ball beautifully and as you can imagine for a lurcher the hurdles are just in the way as she speeds through them, it is a great dog sport and awesome way to exercise and concentrate your dogs mind.
Enjoy.

good luck, i love the whole thing, the racing, and the socialising with like minded people in between racing, i started at the back end of last year with both my 6 year old springers, and they have both just made their debut in open competitions after racing in starters since last year, one better than the other i hasten to add.

Thanks guys. I'm really looking forward to it. Would love to think we could compete eventually but we'll see how this course goes!

Well we had a great time. Tillys tail didnt stop wagging for the whole lesson. Its a small group so we were never stood around for long and done lots of different things to help the dogs get used to it. The trainer was really pleased with Tilly and said being ball obsessed is a massive help. Can't wait for next week!
