Really thats a shame ..they took notice of the first one and made positve changes and should promote the fact.

They made a significant contribution to the first one, but the producer decided to leave most of it on the cutting room floor and only use the bits that showed the KC in a very bad light. I can well understand why they want no part of this one

True.

I just hope they show a more balanced programme this time. They did an excellent job of showing the tragedy of the outcome of bad breeding practice last time and for that the programme should be applauded, but, and it's a big but, by not showing the benefits of good breeding practices it sent many prospective owners straight into the arms of the poor breeders the programme set out to demonise.

The good thing to come out of it though was a shift in position by the KC. Let's hope this continues to continue

Yet all fine under KC standard..
It makes no sense to me at all ..

I wont be watching it, it will just show pedigree dogs in a bad light. It's all very well knocking pedigree dogs but unless you know where the dogs come from it means little. We all know about puppy farms and the poor quality dogs bred from bitches that are practically babies themselves, and not health tested to boot.

I would like to see a programme on the problems arising from dogs purchased from puppy farms pedigree or crossbred. These dogs are badly raised with no opportunity to be socialised and given the love and care they need rather than a programme lumping decent conscientious breeders in with dogs coming from PF's.

The kennel club don't have any say in who breeds what, they just register dogs that come from registered parents. I believe that steps are being taken to clamp down on this, way overdue imo.

Last time the programme aired potential owners went to places that didn't register with the kennel club, some proudly announcing that their dog was registered with DLC, what a joke.

I have seen plenty of programmes exposing back yard breeders, puppy farms but this one is called Pedigree Dogs Exposed so it focuses on pedigree dogs in effect it should have been called Kennel Club Exposed, it did not lump conscientious breeders with bad ones it did however point out the link between poor ones and the KC and how the KC was so institutionalised that it was powerless to act even by those who could see the negatives. How is not watching the programme going to help you, have you thought that maybe it does give positives to the moves the KC have rightly made since the original programme, sadly the KC refusal to engage has stepped them back in my opinion and shows maybe they are still institutionalised.
Each to their own though i guess.

What did you think of the original, and what would you like to see in the second programme?
thought it was brilliant. it started the kc moving towards better things. they may not have moved at all, if it wasnt for this prog. even the sponsors hid...in the end! they all were making a fortune out of the poor dogs. only the dogs suffered. we owe it to the poor dogs to be more responsible!!! more programes...PLEASE!!

The puppy farmers loved it! All it did was make joe public think KC dogs were bad and everything else was great
As for welfare, the puppy farmers keep even more poor dogs in apalling conditions so how do you think it helped?
