Only thing is I dont think she will surivie the OP, since she is so old.
But you never know she might surprise us.
Shall just have to wait and see.
if you can give her tablets there is a fairly new drug that manages it well,or if she is insured you could always consider 'radioactive iodine treatment'

.... anyway, lets see what the vet says, good luck

Something in the back of my mind from when I had an elderly hyperthyroid cat is.... the operation isn't always a permanent cure? (help me on this one Tupacs).

Yes mine was a ninja cat and surprisingly strong too!

This new drug sounds good. I gather the radiation treament is very very expensive unless the cost has gone down in recent years.

It can also take time to show in bloods, I knew something was up with my lad when he was about 12 years old, had bloods and nothing showed, 6 months later he had another set done and it did show up.

its as simple as,there are two thyroid glands and each one can get this benign tumour.so if only one side was operated on there is still a high chance of it happening on the side that is left.

I could actually feel my cat's enlarged lobe sometimes, if I gently probed.

She is deaf now, she has been for several months. That was the reason she moved to my flat.
