For big strong dogs, I would really recommend this type of collar
http://www.snowpawstore.com/dog-walk...r-alaskan.html

Mack has a large ruff around his neck, so finding collars that fit properly is a pain, plus he is very strong, and in the past had a collar break. This has no parts to snap or come undone, it slips over their heads, and most of the time sits very loosely around the neck, if it tightens, it can't choke,as it goes to the tightness of a regular flat collar, so you can insert fingers inside. It means he can't slip his collar over his ears, but it isn't hurting him. It's all welded, and he has had one of these years, he has a newer one the same, but his first was bright blue, the colour never ran, doesn't rot, doesn't choke, and is very strong.

It doesn't and can't choke, so not sure what you'd call it, it tightens to the same as a regular flat collar . It stops, at the point of a regular flat collar, it can't continue tightening.

It doesn't choke does it, it only ever tightens to the same as a regular collar.

but a regular collar doesnt tighten as the dog moves?
it only tightens if you adjust it yourself?
