I work as a receptionist in a vet surgery on the coast of West Dorset. We get alot of holidaymakers in with thier pets, usually adder bites, cuts or fish hooks in various places!
On our computer we have a 'visitors' file and if the animal has a complicated history, we just ring thier vets and get them to fax it over.

I have found it very reassuring! It is no problem getting another vet to treat a pet, it is mainly finding the right one!
